     Objectives of Collaboration
  • Host several Japanese students at Utah State University for a summer
  • Provide Japanese students with opportunity to work on a space systems project that is relevant to their work
    • Solar sail mission is one possibility
  • Provide students with knowledge of the concurrent engineering methodology that may bring back to their respective institutions
  • Provide students with a culturally enriching experience that may foster their personal growth

  • 1. Obtain necessary approval for Japanese students to come to Utah State University.
  • 2. Make arrangements as necessary for hosting Japanese students.
  • Engage in nine week Summer spacecraft design project.
  • Report on experiences at next year’s USSS 2005!


  • Additional accomplishments:
  • 5.  Engage in efforts to establish US-Japan student exchange program.
  • Begin recruiting additional Japanese students (perhaps from other Japanese universities) to come to Utah State in following years.
  • Send US student to Nihon university.
